15 Hints and Tips to Help You Plan Pensacola Florida Beach Weddings

Pensacola beach is the perfect local if you are set on a beach wedding. With 52 miles of clean sandy beaches, crystal clean waters, and over 300 days a year of sunshine. It also offers a variety of hotels and larger style homes along the beach so your guests have a place to stay.

Things you may not need to consider with your traditional wedding take on added importance with a beach wedding. I’ve outlined some hints and tips to help:

1) Before you set the date (which can be very hard to change later) make sure to check on the weather reports in the area for tides (when they come in and out), average temperatures, when rain may be most likely, etc. Temperatures can be in the low 60’s from December until March in Pensacola.

3) There are quite a few events that take place yearly in Pensacola. You could plan your big day around one of these:

Mardi Gras Street Party in February

Jazz Festival in April

* July is the Blue Angels Air Show

September: Seafood is the theme during the Seafood Festival

* October is the Pensacola Interstate Fair

Blue Angels Homecoming Show in November

December: Enjoy a wintery celebration during Winterfest

3) Consider having you reception at sunset. Your guest will thank you, especially during the hot summer months.

4) If you planning your wedding around one of the Pensacola annual events, then keep the food along the same theme. See if you can find a special order bakery that will make you a Blue Angels’ cake. Or if you having it during the Seafood Festival have seafood as your main dish. Keep the food light with salads and fruits. Your guests likely won’t want to dine on heavier full course meals during hot temperatures.

5) Don’t bother with balloons and confetti. If you have confetti, you’ll be responsible for cleaning up the mess. They are not good for the environment anyway.

6) Keep you decorations to a minimum. Having too many decorations and colors will detract from the wedding and will give it a less-than-elegant feel.

7) For a wonderfully inexpensive idea, try scouring the beach for seashells, sand dollars, and other items. Use these for you wedding reception.
8) If your reception will be going into the evening, get some Christmas lights or lanterns to decorate the reception area. You won’t have to worry about them blowing out in the wind or blowing out in the wind.

9) You can also have your reception pool-side if you think all that sand may be an issue for you or your guests. There are a lot of beach side resorts that offer this.

10) Since weather can be an issue, you’ll definitely want to get a canopy - preferably one this is open on the sides. It will protect you and your guests from the sun and the rain. Plus, adds a nice focal point for the reception.

11) It can be quite sunny on the beach, so go with light colors that don’t retain heat. You’ll be much more comfortable.

12) Then there’s the music. Anything by the Beach Boys is good, or go with some Reggae like UB40 or Bob Marley.

13) It would be a good idea to hire your own lifeguard. If you have young guests, this is an important safety precaution.

14) Pensacola has a lot to offer in the way of attractions for you and your guest. Besides the usual boating, fishing, and swimming, you can check out the Oriskany artificial reef and watch the Blue Angels. Sam’s Fun City offers more family oriented fun. Rocky and Bullwinkle make their home there, too.

15) And above all, have a good time! Make sure you plan well in advance and get as much help as you can. This will ensure a stress-free and enjoyable event.
